Schulich Chair and NSERC/ENMAX Industrial Research Chair in Renewable Energy, University of Calgary

David Wood received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Sydney and a PhD in Aeronautics at Imperial College London. He was an academic at the University of Newcastle, Australia for many years before resigning in 2005 to start his own business in commercializing renewable energy. In 2010 he was tempted to Calgary to take up the Schulich Chair and the NSERC/ENMAX Industrial Research Chair both in Renewable Energy. He has worked in renewable energy, mainly wind energy, for over 30 years, written or co-written over 100 research papers, 5 book chapters and a book on small wind turbines. He has worked with a wide range of companies including ENMAX, Siemens, Transalta, and WSP and in projects around the world. Last year he became a director of the Wind Energy Institute of Canada.
