Dr. Porter is the Vice President of Intellectual Property Management at Innovate Calgary, an integrated IP management and economic development non-profit corporation, where he leads a team of 20 professionals serving University of Calgary researchers, as well as innovators across southern Alberta. Ken entered the technology transfer profession at Duke University, and then moved to the University of Colorado to lead re-building the tech transfer office at CU-Boulder. From CU, he moved to San Antonio to build the first multi-institutional tech transfer office at the University of Texas. He has also provided consulting services to liberal arts institutions to create networks with streamlined technology transfer operations supported by a common database and expert social networks. Ken has leadership roles in the Canadian technology management professional community and for WCIO.
